Broadcast stations on medium waves (MW)
In the MW band, frequencies from 531 kHz to 1602 kHz are reserved for public broadcast. During daytime, the "ground wave" reaches distances up to 300 km. During night, the space wave, which is reflected from the ionosphere in an altitude of about 200 km, can be heard at distances of more than 1000 km.
Between 2008 and 2010, all Swiss MW broadcast stations (Beromünster, Sottens, Monte Ceneri) have been shut down.
Only few stations can be heard here during daytime - often with a rather weak signal.
