Broadcast
You find broadcast stations on:
- Long waves (LW): - the range during daytime is more than 1000 km
- Medium waves (MW): - the range during daytime reaches 300 km.
- Short waves (SW): - depending on the frequency, the range can be several 1000 km.
- VHF (FM): - the range is given by the line of sight.
Conventional broadcast stations transmit in analog mode (amplitude modulation on LW, MW and SW; frequency modulation on VHF (FM). With DAB (Digital Audio Broadcast) a transition to digital mode is taking place on VHF. On short waves as well, there are digital programs offered now (DRM = Digital Radio Mondial)
